Tesco

Question 1:
Tesco.com has been able to achieve success online by using customer data from clubcard the data collected ensure that customers were locked in to continue to purchase their product form tesco.com.
Tesco.com uses this strategy to convert visitor to regular buyer ( Approach 1)
“Trigger event 1: Customer first registers on site (but does not buy).
§  Auto-response (AR) 1: 2 days after registration e-mail sent offering phone assistance and £5 discount off first purchase to encourage trial. Trigger event 2: Customer first purchases online.
§  AR1: Immediate order confirmation
§  AR2: 5 days after purchase e-mail sent with link to online customer satisfaction survey asking about quality of service from driver and picker (e.g. item quality and substitutions).
§  AR3: Two-weeks after first purchase - Direct mail offering tips on how to use service and £5 discount on next purchases intended to encourage re-use of online services.
§  AR4: Generic monthly e-newsletter with online exclusive offers encouraging cross-selling
§  AR5: Bi-weekly alert with personalised offers for customer.
§  AR6: After 2 months - £5 discount for next shop
§  AR7: Quarterly mailing of coupons encouraging repeat sales and cross-sales Trigger event 3: Customer does not purchase for an extended period
§  AR1: Dormancy detected – Reactivation e-mail with survey of how the customer is finding the service (to identify any problems) and a £5 incentive.
§  AR2: A further discount incentive is used in order to encourage continued usage to shop after the first shop after a break.”
Chaffey, 2011 page 520

(Approach 2)
The second approach is providing customers with convenience and value such as:
·         Tesco.com also has improved customers experience online, this has reduced time for first time buyer from 1 hour to 35 minutes on line
·         Tesco.com also offers intangible product such as forming partnership with eDiet and iVillage and offering the services to their customers.
·         Providing customers with cheap telephone services and services broadband.

2.)  Our product which is “streambox” can benefit from the first approach which tesco.com uses these steps could be use to make any visiting customer to a regular customer.

This answer is for Karim Mualla only:

•Suppose you are looking for a job from now on

•Where would you advertise yourself?  Why? (think of your e-marketing plan for yourself, establish various channels, your own online value proposition).

In order for me to advertise myself, first I need to consider what fields am I
exactly aiming for, because each industry has different marketing aspects which must be taking in consideration before attempting to approach its audience.
Nevertheless, on a general basis, I would put a great deal of focus on my CV, and perhaps turn it into a state of the art 'online dynamic CV' where it can include web links to all my past experiences, companies I worked with, recognized people in the industry I collaborated with, youtube videos of me if available, different social networking accounts, personal websites and blogs, educational backgrounds which links automatically to my under and post graduate certificates, and so on.

Furthermore, and as the question mentioned: 'I'm looking for a job', then in that case it would be very helpful to sign up with several job hunting sites where people can have their own profiles and apply for different jobs to various companies who have already posted their jobs' offers on that particular social network or JOB SEARCH website.
However, and from a personal experience, I can assure everyone that it is an absolute waste of time to do what was previously mentioned. in my professional opinion, and again based on a long term experience, what makes a difference with regard to 'marketing yourself' is the following:

- Design a great CV (and be honest)
- Stand Up
- Get dressed
- And pay those companies a surprise visit without an appointment.
- you will be kicked out from 90% of these companies from just showing up an announced.
- However, 9% would be impressed of what you do (after you introduce your skills properly) and will tell you to expect a call of them soon.
- and the remaining 1% would not only be impressed, but they will also offer you a job instantly. and that is how I got my

-The choice available to those consumers is vast. Almost anything they wish to watch or listen to will be attainable and with a simple click of a button, they can stream it

-If there is a fault with the internet connection, the consumer will be unable to stream or download immediately

The Technological Factor (SLEPT ANALYSIS):

Technology is constantly changing, and businesses must manage and incorporate new technologies to survive. The internet has demonstrated that those firms who ignore technology risk alienating customers. However, investing in technology is expensive and therefore, firms must spend their money wisely. Studies have shown that businesses who invest research and development can often gain a big advantage. for that reason this entrepreneur project would rely greatly on the technological aspect as one of the main factors of the SLEPT analysis.
We will offer the following:
-          A mobile software that is compatible with Mac and Android systems.
-          Free texts obtained from the learned knowledge provided by customers behaviors.
-          The content offered by this enterprise will not only include movies and TV series (sorted by its genres) but also live streaming sport games (different kinds, depends on customer’s order), World News (again, depends on customers’ channel/Network request), Entertainment events such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, TV night Shows… etc.
-          Technological upgrade must take place on the mobile software constantly on a pre-scheduled basis.
-          Integrating customers’ behavior by implementing artificial intelligence algorithms designed specially to make the application as user friendly as possible.

More Technological Analysis for the Internet TV project:

Some factors that cause company's actual results to differ materially from the expected results are as follows:

1-      The effectiveness of company's advertising, marketing and promotional programs. The new technology of internet and television which use special effects for advertising through media. They make some products look attractive. This helps in selling of the products. This advertising makes the product attractive. This technology is being used in media to sell their products.

2-      Introduction of cans softwares have increased sales for other companie.

3-      As the technology is getting advanced there has been introduction of new legal and illegal streaming providers all the time. Due to introduction of this phenomenon the production of this company should increase tremendously in terms of services and features to make it as tempting as possible for customers to use our product.

In our group we are wholesalers taking orders and delivering to retailers and ordering from distributors.
  1.   The first problem we encounter as a group is not getting to work with all the group members.
  2.   In the first week we received an Order of 10 from the retailers and we panic not to run out of stock and we double our order from the distributor which raises our stock and cost
  3.   Week 15 the retailer ordered 30 and there was a delay from the distributor which made us out of stock.  And left us with back orders
  4.   At the end of week 20 we are out of stock with cost of £76 and back order of 3
  5.   There was no adequate communication from the distributor and the two week delay does not help

(Wholesale  inventory from the beer game)

THE POSSIBLE SOLUTION
ü  Know the demand: By studying the consumer behaviour we can understand what to order from the distributor
ü  Interact: Interaction with both the retailer and the Distrubtor is vital and would help to reduce our cost
ü  Communication: Communication is essential in supply chain and this would have help with the stock level and cost.

  1. Explore the use of ICT applications in the supply chain, and relate their features to the problems you encountered

The technologies that that can be use to solve the problem we encounter are(Radio-frequency identification)  RFID and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).  The reasons are for the following:

BENEFIT OF RFID
·        The main potential benefit is improving, efficiency, accuracy and security of both the supply chain management and inventory management and also cost savings
·        Another benefit for the use of RFID technology is its real time capability.  RFID provide an accurate inventory database enabling greater efficiency in shelf replenishing and forecasting and resulting in less out of stock occurrences.
·         The use of RFID will simplify the collection of information needed to drive category management and retailers will not need suppliers to collect data for them and this could further strengthen the retailer’s understanding of the category management at the expense of the supplier
Watch this video link to understand how RFID helps in supply chain

BENEFIT OF EDI

·         1- Reduce or eliminate the need to send and receive paper purchase orders, invoices, and other documents which are routinely exchanged between you and your trading partners
·         2- Execute transactions quickly via the internet
·         3- Improve negotiating leverage with vendors by making it easier for them to do business with
